HOWARD JONES PRESENTS
NEW RADIO SERIES ON ABSOLUTE 80s

“ELECTRONIC 80s WITH HOWARD JONES”
STARTS SUNDAY 4th MARCH 2012 at 8pm

Legendary eighties icon Howard Jones is to present a new radio show on Absolute 80s - the UK’s only 80s radio station.

The musician, singer and songwriter hosted a highly-successful series of programmes for the digital radio station in 2011, and has been invited back to repeat his success in 2012 with a second series of “Electronic 80s”.

Howard will pick his favourite electronic tracks from one of the best decades in music and will take us through his song selections, and will share his stories of working and performing with other major artists at the time. Expect music from Japan, New Order, Kraftwerk, Thomas Dolby, Scritti Politti, Human League, New Order, Tears For Fears...and, of course, Howard Jones himself.

Howard Jones became a major recording artist in 1983 with hits like New Song, What is Love?, Pearl in the Shell, Hide and Seek (which he performed at Live Aid in 1985), Like to Get to Know You Well, Look Mama, Things Can only Get Better, Everlasting Love and the quintessential No One is To Blame, which reached No.1 in the US. A classically trained pianist, he applied his musical knowledge to create a very English song-writing style whilst pioneering the use of synthesizers.

Fast forward to 2012 and Howard is set to have a busy year as he is embarking on an eight-date UK tour on Wednesday 11thApril at the O2 Academy in Bristol.  The tour celebrates the first time since 6th November 2010, that Howard will perform his first two studio albums "Human’s Lib" and "Dream Into Action" back to back, live in their entirety for the very first time on a full scale nationwide UK tour.

Absolute Radio’s Content Director, Tony Moorey said, “When you think of the 80s, Howard Jones is one of the Great British icons.  He’s already proven himself to be an amazing singer, songwriter and musician, and we believe he can add Radio Presenter to that list.  Absolute Radio has previously established music talent and worked with them to produce first-rate radio.  We know that Howard will do a fantastic job.”

Previous hosts of "Electronic 80s" have included Martyn Ware and Glenn Gregory from Heaven 17, famous for their 1983 smash hit "Temptation".

Howard’s new show starts on Absolute 80s on Sunday 4th March at 8pm. For further details, click here - www.absolute80s.com.
